Black Designers You Should Know: Part II

This week we continue our recognition of brilliant Black designers with this short list of present-day experts in branding and graphic designers. Please join us in celebrating the immensely talented professionals below, along with many others.


Dana James Mwangi
Dana is an incredibly talented designer, speaker, and owner of the award-winning Cheers Creative. She’s also a skilled entrepreneur, and offers a guide to creatives on tools for business. Visit her site to learn more about her work, and listen to one of the many podcasts she’s appeared on.


Timothy Hykes
Timothy is a skilled UX designer and speaker, and the president of the St. Louis AIGA chapter. Among other things, he’s also co-founder of the Design + Diversity conference, and created the 28 Black Designers series, which featured a different gifted Black designer for each day of Black History Month.


Antionette Carroll
Antionette is the founder, CEO, and president of Creative Reaction Lab, “a nonprofit educating and deploying youth to challenge racial and health inequities impacting Black and Latinx populations.” Through this platform she’s created Equity-Centered Community Design, a creative-problem solving process, and she’s also given numerous TED talks (and has also spoken at Google, Harvard, and more).
